About Me.

Pete Subkoviak is a national leader in economic mobility and direct cash policy whose career has been dedicated to expanding the power and prosperity of working- and middle-class Americans. He has led large-scale programs that put real money in people’s pockets, strengthen working families, and ensure government is shaped by and accountable to the people it serves.

Most recently Pete led the Resilient Families Hub in the Biden Administration, a policy initiative focused on getting more money into the hands of lower and working class families. Before his federal service, he designed and ran the nation’s largest publicly funded guaranteed income program as Director of Guaranteed Income and Economic Mobility at the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development.

A strong advocate for the rights and inherent value of working people, Pete is proud of his service to SEIU 775, where he supported efforts to make Seattle the nation's first city with a $15 minimum wage. He also directed a successful campaign to design and pass into law the WA Cares Fund. The bi-partisan legislation created the first public benefit for long-term care needs, which covers nearly all of Washington state’s working and retiree populations.

Pete holds a master’s degree in health economics and insurance systems from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Prior to graduate school, he worked for health and LGBTQ organizations in Chicago, where he co-created TransLife Care, a pioneering housing and employment program for transgender individuals.

A Wisconsin native now based in Chicago, he brings Midwestern roots, national experience, and a career spent upending powerful interests on behalf of ordinary people. That vocation now fuels his effort to launch the Working Majority, a new member-driven organization whose mission is to unite Americans around their shared economic interests, grow the middle class, shrink the wealth divide, and build a foundation of trust in our nation's future.
